Conduit invests in medium-sized independent electric power plants and pipelines. Typically, projects meet the following criteria:
- Size: Power generation facilities should require total investment
of $60MM - $1BB
- Local Market Focus: Countries with political stability and projected economic growth are emphasized
- Investors: A consortium of private, local and multinational sponsors
- Project Category: Greenfield and Acquisition
- Revenue Analysis: Projects should meet predictable revenue streams created by:
- Long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with a credit worthy purchaser and/or
- Power generation efficiencies that allow individual projects to compete as low-cost suppliers to a spot market
- Insurability: Projects should be structured to be insurable by World Bank's MIGA, U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corporation ("OPIC") or other reliable insurers
- Ownership Stake: Conduit invests sufficient equity to ensure management control of projects and a majority representation on the Board of Directors
